Dental Maintenance and Care
Why is Dental Maintenance and Care important? Maintenance care is one of the most important things you could do for your health. When you come in every 6 months or 4 months, whichever one the Dentist recommends, there may be problems the Dentist sees before you do. A major problem could be prevented just by seeing your dentist on a regular basis rather than waiting until a problem arises to come in.
Bacteria in your mouth will form a sticky plaque on your teeth and gums. If this is not removed it will will harden in tarter. The bacteria in the plaque and tarter can cause an infection called periodontal disease. This can leave to pain, bone loss, gum damage, and even tooth loss. It is very important to see your dentist if you had any red, swollen, or painful gums.
A routine cleaning is very important into maintaining a healthy mouth. Although you brush your teeth every day and floss every day you still need that extra cleaning from our staff. The dentist may recommend that you come in every 6 months or it may be even every 4 months, either way it is very important to stay on top of this schedule and to see us regularly.
Follow Up Care
After gum disease occurs and it is properly taken care of it is necessary to come in for all your follow up care appointments. Your follow up appointments may consist of a few different things to help prevent gum disease from occurring again. It’s very important that you also use good home care in order to prevent it from re-occurring and to stay on top of it.
